You can't force education upon people any more than you can force peace upon them. Afghanistan and Iraq are both doomed to return to the state they were in before the US invaded, once we finally give up on this hopeless cause.
Imagine if the American Revolution didn't happen, and instead France invaded with the stated intention of "freeing" the colonies from England's death grip. You think we would have welcomed them? Well, certainly some may have, but there would be a whole lot who were still loyal to the crown, and others who just flat out resented the intrusion, the French troops walking down the street like they were our saviors. And then they try to set up French style schools and a French style government, and we're all supposed to embrace it and be grateful?
Fortunately that didn't happen to us. Instead, France supported our internal struggle for independence. Which is really the only rational foreign policy that even comes close to nation building.
^ Spot on. We have the best government money can buy, and that's just one reason a totally free market won't work. You'd need an uncorruptable government in place to begin with.
Another thing you need for free markets to work is a general public that isn't apathetic. If the tobacco companies started going out of business when people started to figure out the link to cancer, we wouldn't need regulations. If people had stopped buying cars without seatbelts (or consistently spent cash on an aftermarket seatbelt) then we wouldn't have needed to regulate it. People have this ridiculous tendency to believe that "it can't happen to me" and that destroys the free market's usefulness. The fact that Blue Shield is still in business after reports that people were being systematically denied further coverage because they cost too much... if people weren't so damn apathetic they would be out of customers within a month. Hell, they wouldn't even have done it because they would know that customers would switch providers.
Also, in what type of free market would people with pre-existing conditions get coverage? None. It just wouldn't happen.
And "right to free services"? I believe I have the right to police protection, fire protection, public education, etc... We have the "rights" that we as a society decide to grant ourselves, and we have to collectively agree on how to pay for it as well. None of it is free in the end, we're just talking about "no immediate direct costs".
Look, I love the free market for a lot of things. Electronics, for example. It works for that type of thing. But I'm sick (no pun intended) of thinking about how my health is some bean counter's liability that needs to be reduced whenever possible to increase corporate profits. I would much rather have an indifferent government drone monitoring my health plan than somebody who is actively looking for ways to screw me out of my money.
Wow, Rachel really shot herself in the foot there at the end. You can't rant about how totally useless a piece of equipment is then be all afraid of how it might be used against us... that's a Republican tactic. Bad, Rachel, bad.
Statutory rape is about a minor's inability to consent. It's not that he isn't willing, but that he might get a messed up perception of what sex is all about for the rest of his life. At least, that's the theory. I'm not sure exactly what negative effects it could have, but I'm not a psychologist.
I don't buy that bullshit for a second. You are simply rationalizing you assholery. If you were really trying to follow the "one law of love" you would be trying to share the truth of the world as you see it, and you can't do that with curses and unintelligible gobbledegook. You would have watched the video, and made clearly related points about why Rachel is no more newsworthy than the filth that Fox News spews. I might agree or disagree, but that conversation would be one motivated by respect for the humanity of your fellow sifters. As it stands, I see nothing but the ravings of a retarded douchebag, and that's sad because obviously that's not who you really are. It's just what we see when you are being lazy. And I don't want to waste my brainpower on it.

I am through with trying to enlighten folks through the limitations of the written word. Those who have figured me out on this site are allies, those who refuse to try to understand continue to, to their detriment and frustration. The same people who would see me gone forever are the same who find it most comfortable in a room full of people who process and dispense information in a similar manner.
I could use charts and graphs and examples but why bother? What will it profit me to change anyone's mind about a particular issue....My issue is about PROCESS and the filters otherwise reasonable people use because of the way they have been programmed. You may believe me, that in the real world, I am an incredible humanitarian and lover of diversity. I love "humans", just hate the way most are "being"....the majority are incredibly gullible, controlled, meat robots with no stake in or say over their environment or their livelihoods, evidenced here on VS, by save but a very few. The few that won't write, well, I appreciate them all the more when they do.
I thank you for the constructive critique, and you are right. I do tend to overstate my opinion in way too many or too few course words. My opinion on the matter of Rachel Maddow regardless of the particular spew she is engaged in??? She represents a most reprehensible outlet for information/diversion/control. I pity the masses for settling for such bullshit cloaked as valuable information. I pity her for selling out to the Machina Babylonica.

But no, you wander through these virtual rooms, wild-haired and smelling of shite, mumbling and rambling incoherent obscenities. We see in the post above that you can write meaningful sentences if you choose to, which makes the other garbage all the more despicable.
If you are not here to share your opinions with people, (and your opinion about the usefulness of non-news distractions is completely valid) then why the fuck are you here? Are you just venting? Or are the rest of us supposed to wade through your typewritten spew in search of your true meaning?
