Dark Knight: Load of Tripe (Cinema Talk Post)
I disagree with Dag.

I don't think people should go into the theater thinking they are going to see a comic book movie. It's more crime noir than anything else, not the common and imaginary "good vs. bad" comic book fantasy. I think its entirety spoke to something greater: fear, control, uncertainty, sacrifice.

Yes, Rachel Dawes part in the story line is very limited, but it's because she serves as a foil for the men, because in the end, the movie is about the relationships between these men, their struggle uphold good despite deep self-sacrifice, while constantly being tempted by the ecstasy of chaos offered by the joker.

It was violent, but I believe it was tactful. There was barely any blood on the screen. No beads of blood splattering on the camera lens.
And if we are going to judge any movies by violence then Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, and Kill Bill would be terrible films in comparison.

Yeah! Lotsa videos to retag. Funny, a lot of car videos with no channels tags at all, since there really was nothing to put them in.

Age of Conan -- Zero Punctuation Review
We should probably start a pool on what the next game will be that he has something nice to say about.

The last one was what, GTA 4?

I'm thinking he'll get a kick out of Fallout 3's weapons and setting, but hate the gameplay to pieces.

He might like LittleBigPlanet, if they can convince him to review it at all.

Scene from Fifth Element with only music score
I wish I could double or triple upvote this. One of my favorite movies, and these scenes along with the score was one of my favorite parts. Highly appreciate being able to watch it with score only. Definitely should be a special feature on most DVDs.

This is great. Drew Carey could never be this good... Bob Barker is sorely missed. *promote

Brainstorm - trailer
>> ^dotdude:
> Too bad Natalie Wood drowned before shooting was completed.

too true. she was amazingly talented, attractive, and her thing of wrinkling up her nose when she smiled was very endearing.
good news is, 95% of her stuff was already filmed anyway, though.
the night she fell off the boat was something of a wrap-up party cruise. that's why she and her husband had walken and other friends onboard, for a couple days.

and the director, douglas trumbull, basically had to throw away his career to have her last movie be released. the studio wanted to cash in the insurance policy on the movie, instead.
